Great value Melbourne Hotel Close To The City & MCG

Such a lovely hotel to spend the night especially if you are heading to the MCG. The rooms as spacious and the beds are so very comfortable. Great facilities in the room. The hotel is right on the tram line into the city and just a short taxi to the MCG or catch the tram and add about a 15 minute walk .

Bland business hotel where even the hot water doesn’t work in shower - quite a disappointing experience for the price!

I had a bad experience overall with Pullman. Firstly I booked the wrong hotel online. I was moving out of my apartment in East Melbourne and due to sentimental reasons I wanted to stay in my neighbourhood at the Pullman overlooking Fitzroy Gardens. I had no idea there are multiple Pullman hotels in Melbourne. When I found out, I rebooked the one on the park but the city centre Pullman refused to refund me. Nice one Accor! They said although it’s in same group, the hotel has separate ownership and management so they cannot recognise that I rebooked to sister hotel… annoying. When I checked in to Pullman on the Park, I was struck by the drab corporate decor in grey and brown color scheme. I had a nice dinner at Clivedon restaurant and the waitress (Julia) was the only bright spot of my stay. I had early flight the next morning and woke up at 05:00 am for coffee and quick shower. Unfortunately the hot water in the shower didn’t function properly. The mixing tap was broken so it would be scalding hot for a few seconds and then ice cold. Also the lighting and air conditioning control panel is very badly designed and it’s impossible to turn the aircon off. I had to call a guy from front desk to help me and even he couldn’t understand how it works. When I checked out, the woman at front desk was very professional about hearing my complaints but she didn’t offer any immediate compensation. Overall I would say - overpriced and bland and should have a nice hot showers for the price! Never again

Watch for erroneous mini bar charges

Sadly this hotel charged us for items we did not consume from the minibar. Be aware of the "fast check out" process. We informed them of the erroneous charge but they charged us anyway. Hotel looks shiny but it is an old hotel with a modern renovation. It will soon become a Novotel or one of their lesser brands. Rooms are small. Staff were OK. Bar is dark and not well arranged and restaurant is not a nice place to sit, more a cafe style than a restaurant.

Lovely room, great locations, your bar area and restaurant are not to a standard expected in a 5 star hotel

As a guest at the hotel, booked for dinner at 7:00, seated at 7:15 offered water at 7:45 and on enquiring about when we could expect a meal was told a minimum of 45 minutes. Understaffed and very disorganised. This hotel should not have a 5 star rating 3.5 to 4 maximum. The Q Code ordering on the tables in the bar direct you to pre ordering breakfast or room service. Everything points to poor management.
