We booked 2 rooms, 3 nights plus wanted add 2 more .. when arrived was awful loud place, asked at least 1 quite room but ofc reception lied told overbooking😏 i couldnt sleep at night even with earplugs, next day moved Hilton hotels.. manager saw we check out made so surprised face!!! immedeately " found" quite room for us .. so low level service with low level people working there!!!

Location is a plus!

The hotel is located in the Taksim Square. I found the rooms to be a little dated compared to other Sofitel hotels I have stayed at.The Bosphorus view rooms are much quieter. Hotel is located within walking distance to shops, restaurants, cafes. The staff at the restaurant messed up our orders twice & service was very slow. If you want to be centrally located, this hotel is a perfect choice.

Let’s talk pros first. Location: Sofitel Istanbul is located in Taksim, the heart of Istanbul. Very easy access to İstiklal street, public transport that connects you to the whole of Istanbul, lots of options for fine dining and street food in walking distance. The view of Bosphorus is amazing. The hotel: Beautiful, clean and spacious rooms with nice views. Nice breakfast with lots of options. A rooftop bar/dining and a rooftop swimming pool (which wasn’t open as it was still cold). The bed was big and comfortable with really comfortable pillows to my liking. Ac was working fine. Hot water within seconds in the bathroom. Staffing matters: the housekeeping staff was amazing, professional (in a good way), hard working and made sure our stay was comfortable and the room cleaned. They even would have random checks if they have done a good job and we were happy with housekeeping. Best housekeeping I have seen. Special thanks to Selim Bekhan and Erkan ( I believe who would check the room in the evening). The guys at the gate/ security were also friendly. The rest of the staff, how I put it, were professional I guess, but I thought a smile here and hi and help there would have been nice but I guess that’s my personal opinion. Other guests may like more stern and professional looking staff, but i appreciate some smiles ( like the housekeeping staff). Cons: I don’t think there were any cons but a few suggestion may improve the experience even further. The rooms in the upper floors were getting noise from the rooftop bar and disturbs anyone with light sleep. There was a beautiful book in the room about the history of the building, but the English translation was not good (kinda google translation). I speak a little bit Turkish, so I could tell that in some places the translation was totally the apposite of what it said in Turkish, and longer sentences didn’t make sense. It would also have been nice if they could serve tea or some other welcome drinks. All in all our stay was good and we were happy.

Sofitel staff are clueless about reservations

That is reservations made on Bookings.com. And by my experience others as well I am sure. Bookings.com has specific suite descriptions down to square feet and views etc. All are provided with specific photos unique to each suite. I checked in and after a while realized that this was not the suite I had originally selected! It did not have the expansive sea view that I picked and paid for. To remedy the mistake I talked to the front desk and the gentlemen manning the desk was puzzled at first but understood the issue and said that I talk to a Mr. Salih the next morning as it was late. The next day I spoke to Mr. Salih, who seemed confrontational, irritable and defensive. Tersely he said, "All of the suites are suites. You picked a suite" I would not fall for that preposterous answer and demanded for what I paid for. I explained to him that they are all different and that the reason bookings has different photos of the very different suites are for a reason! They are not the same. So he said that he would do his best. Finally we were able to get the "original" suite in the evening. We wasted one day and one night in the non optimal suite. In the very end I realized that too wasn't the original one! The one I picked was one floor above. At this point I let it go. I know this hotel better than the staff! They really need to get their collective acts together and deliver. I was never able to unpack as we were nomads for two days. Shame on you Sofitel. There is a difference between "partial seaview" and "seaview" get it???????

Where do I start. Booked a junior suite but the room was facing a mosque directly with the morning prayer call waking us up at 5am without fail throughout my stay. Club Millesime lounge access was non existent. Wanted to hide somewhere to get some work done. Online said that there was complimentary refreshments throughout the day, but hotel staff said that it was only open between 6-8pm. This is very disappointing. Hot water was not available during some times of my stay, and the room layout resulted in a very heaty room. Will not recommend to stay here.
